All-Day Dining Shaped
by the Seasons of Karuizawa

Primrose Open Kitchen & Bar is designed around the changing seasons of Karuizawa, creating an all-day dining experience that reflects the region’s distinctive atmosphere and slower pace of life.

Inspired by the warmth and openness of Karuizawa’s traditional wooden churches, the interior brings together brick recalling the area’s early development, Shinshu timber, and glass that captures subtle shifts in light throughout the day. These materials create an inviting environment that feels closely connected to the surrounding landscape.

Morning light moves softly across the tables. After the rain, air carrying the dampness of the forest drifts near the windows. Even in midsummer, cool breezes move through the trees, and the sense of time brought from the city begins to fall away. From breakfast and afternoon tea to evening meals and quiet moments at the bar, guests experience the changing character of Karuizawa throughout the day.

Primrose offers a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and settle into the generous, wooded atmosphere of Karuizawa.
